FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Series: Masters Cup, On For Young And Old

The FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series is one of the few categories to provide experienced older drivers with the opportunity to exercise their passion for motor sport, while also giving young guns the chance to launch racing careers.

The FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series is one of the few categories to provide experienced older drivers with the opportunity to exercise their passion for motor sport, while also giving young guns the chance to launch racing careers.

The series has developed its own Masters Cup, providing competitors over 35 years-of-age with a separate category based on a points system.

Other drivers piloting a classic Ford or classic Holden-bodied car can also qualify for the Masters Cup. Each Masters Cup car has a special logo identifying the driver as a competitor in the Cup.

Aussie Racing Cars Founder and Driver Phil Ward is committed to keeping the category open to all drivers who share his passion for motorsport, regardless of age.

“As a driver in the Masters Cup I can give you the firsthand benefits of the Cup," Mr Ward said.

"It is fantastic for a driver my age... I have been driving for decades and the thrill I get from racing is second to none."

The FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Series is for drivers of all ages and experience-levels. In 2011, the series stars a number seasoned racers, weekend racers, full-time drivers, and even business owners.

A Masters Cup trophy is awarded to the winner at the end of each round. Masters Cup drivers are also included in the outright point scoring, which means they are not excluded from taking home the overall Series title.

The current ranking for the Masters Cup: in first place is Grant Ludbey, followed by FW1-sponsored driver Darren Chamberlain in second place, and in third place is Mark Clements.

Round 4 in the Series will take place from 19 - 21 August 2011 at Queensland Raceway with the support of sponsor, FW1.

The Motor Report will be bringing you live updates on the Masters Cup and FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series. Regular posts will also be featured on the Aussie Racing Cars and FW1 Facebook and Twitter pages.
