Find three minutes, folks. The longest preview yet for the upcoming ‘Furious 7’ flick has surfaced, promising an even wilder assault of four-wheeled physics-defying action.
Those that caught the The Fast & The Furious back in 2001 could have guessed that a sequel or two would follow, but few would have foreseen a seventh installment.
To recap, Furious 7 follows The Fast & The Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6. (I detect a theme... - Ed.)
This latest chapter in the maturing series sees British action hero Jason Statham enter as villain Ian Shaw, out for vengeance for younger brother Owen, killed while being pursued by Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew in F&F 6.
The events of that story took place before the third film, set in Japan, and it’s an update to the final scenes of Tokyo Drift where we see that Jason Statham is responsible for the death of Han, a key player in both F&F 6 and Tokyo Drift.
The time-jumping storyline will return to the present in Furious 7, which will also see the return of a number of characters featured throughout the series - and the return of Race Wars, a highlight of the first film.
Action legend Kurt Russell will also star, along with Blood Diamond’s Djimon Hounsou.
Importantly for fans and the franchise, Furious 7 will be the first chapter since the death of star Paul Walker (‘Brian O’Conner’), whose previously filmed scenes will be mixed with footage of actors that will have Walker’s face superimposed in place of theirs.
