The German tuning house has turned its attention to the GLE 63 Coupe SUV performer and called it the Brabus 850 Biturbo 4X4 GLE Coupe.
The list of modifications starts, as always, with the engine.
Power from the twin-turbocharged petrol V8 has been boosted from 430kW to a sizable 625kW, and torque rises from 760Nm to a stump-shifting 1450Nm.
The boost comes in part from the addition of larger turbochargers to replace the standard units, and the engine has been bored out to 6.0 litres from the regular 5.5 litre capacity.
Combined with Benz’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions and all-wheel-drive, the Brabus 850 can hit 100km/h from rest in 3.8 seconds, wiping 0.4 seconds from the time of the regular GLE 63.
Despite the 850 packing a 625kW 6.0 litre V8 and weighing in at 2350kg, Brabus says combined fuel consumption is 11.9 l/100km. The top speed has been electronically limited to 320km/h.
Modifications include a new exhaust system with a choice of two exhaust notes (Sport or ‘Coming Home’), along with a new intake module with a carbon-fibre finish.
Outside, the 850 boasts more clear-coated carbon-fibre, a front spoiler lip, a rear diffuser and a choice of alloy wheels ranging in diameter from 21- to 23-inch, wrapped in Yokohama performance tyres.
Inside, there’s leather and Alcantara highlights available “in any desired colour”, along with Brabus signage and aluminium pedals.
Brabus isn’t concerned about the GLE’s ability to handle all of the modifications, offering a three-year, 100,000km warranty. The 850 can be ordered as a complete car, or existing GLE 63s can be upgraded by Brabus.
