Ford Performance Vehicles has revealed its first-ever concept at today's Australian International Motor Show opening, bringing a number of bespoke treatments and a black-on-black look to the popular GT sedan.

Finished in menacing Silhouette black paintwork, the (oddly unnamed) FPV concept gets a matte-black stripe package on the bonnet, rear wing and sides, and a matte-black rear diffuser.

At the front end, the concept gets large brake ducts incorporated into the underlight treatments (a preview of things to come?), and black framing also features on the tail-lights.

"Taking our iconic FPV GT, we have put together a package of performance and design enhancements to demonstrate what could be done by FPV in the future," Ford Performance Vehicles General Manager, Rod Barrett said.

"The black-on-black treatment looks spectacular and it really changes the look of the car, so I'll be very interested to hear what FPV enthusiasts think."

Power is provided by the same supercharged 5.0 litre V8 engine, producing 335kW and 570Nm of torque.

The FPV concept sits on 19-inch lightweight one-piece forged alloy wheels - in black, of course - measuring eight inches wide at the front and 9.5 inches at the rear.

Braking is managed by larger six-piston brake calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, again all finished in black.

There's track-tuned suspension underneath, and a full stainless-steel high-flow twin exhaust system finished with quad black tips.

In the cabin, there's (you guessed it) black leather trim throughout and an all-black dash treatment, including the Interior Command Centre system.

"We've equipped the vehicle with the GT's most ticked options, such as leather trim and reversing camera. That way, it's a reflection of what our buyers are choosing and gives us a real world basis to get people thinking," Rod Barrett said.

"That's what this concept car is about we wanted to demonstrate the possibilities, explore the future and gauge public opinion to assist us with the evolution of FPV product."
