Ford Australia has partnered again with video games publisher High Moon Studios to develop a new 'Transformer' concept. This time, it's a robotic Ranger Wildtrak named Torque.

Created to promote Ford's new pickup and High Moon's Transformers: Fall of Cybertron game, Torque joins the earlier Falcon XR-based Falcatron concept (pictured below).

"You spoke, we listened, and here it is. Following in the footsteps of Falcatron, the developers at High Moon Studios have done it again. Meet Torque, your Ranger Wildtrak Transformer," Ford said.

Neither car will feature in the game, but as promotional campaigns go, this one will likely convert (transform..? - Ed.) more than a few future buyers among today's pre-teens.

Ford's Wildtrak, the flagship model in the new Ranger line-up, went on sale in Australia earlier this year.

Powered by a 3.2 litre five-cylinder turbodiesel, the Wildtrak offers 147kW at 4700rpm and 470Nm between 1500 and 2750rpm.

The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with a six-speed auto available as an option. Fuel consumption is listed at 9.4 l/100km, with CO2 emissions at 248g/km.
