The short version of this week's Ford Mustang news goes something like this: "Did we say 485kW? Better tack another 10kW on that".
Announced in November last year, the top-shelf Mustang Shelby GT500 listed its power figures at 485kW and 813Nm of torque, which was already a huge improvement over the previous year's 410kW and 691Nm package.
Now, according to a recent TeamShelby.com Q&A with Ford SVT chief engineer Jamal Hameedi, the GT500 was recently certified at 662bhp, or as good as 495kW.
The flagship pony's 0-100km/h time has still to be announced, but with peak power coming online from 4000rpm and staying above 370kW all the way to its 7000rpm redline, a time in the mid 3.0 second range is likely.
