Ford has rolled out an update to its Mustang Shelby GT350 pony car, bringing new performance goodies, interior features and colours.
The GT350 is now more track-focused thanks to the addition of a standard “Track Pack”, which includes a high-downforce deck-lid spoiler, the MagneRide damping system and an aluminium tower-to-tower brace.
There is also three new oil coolers - one each for the engine oil, transmission fluid and differential oil.
To match the new go-faster kit, buyers now have three new paint finishes to choose from, titled Lightning Blue, Grabber Blue and Ruby Red Metallic. Deep Impact Blue and Competition Orange drop off the list.
Inside, customers can opt to upgrade the audio system from seven speakers to nine, as part of three new interior entertainment packages.
These packages are the Electronics Package - which includes SYNC3 connectivity with voice-activation - and the Convenience Package, which also adds leather-trimmed powered sports seats in place of the Recaros.
Ford says the new features reflect those most-wanted by Shelby customers, while also allowing buyers to add extra kit to their cars. “No longer do buyers have to choose between the Track Package and additional features,” Ford said.
"Ford Performance is always listening to customer feedback," Ford Performance director, Dave Pericak, said.
"At the end of last year we started offering a back seat option for Shelby GT350R due to customer demand. Now, we have adjusted the packages available to continue to provide more of what customers want on the Shelby GT350 Mustang."
The updated 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 goes on sale in the US from June, but don’t expect to see it in Australia anytime soon - unless the sales success of the ‘regular’ Mustang causes a rethink at Ford Australia HQ…
