Ford has announced its all-new GT supercar will be limited to a worldwide production run of just 250 units per year.

The announcement was made at the Geneva Motor Show, where the new model has been unveiled to a European audience for the first time following its original reveal in Detroit.

While this will guarantee that the GT is one of the most exclusive Fords ever, it will also be the most expensive.

Ford says the GT’s price will see it competing with the Lamborghini Aventador, and that means a price for US buyers of up to US$400,000 (AU$512,000) and £250,000 (AU$488,000) in the UK.

The Aventador is priced at over $760,000 in Australia, but local customers are unlikely be offered the chance to purchase a Ford GT in an official capacity.
