Ford’s Focus RS, it’s fair to say, will be one of the most hotly anticipated new car arrivals for 2016 in Australia.
But the global carmaker isn’t going to let us forget about it in the meantime, launching a new documentary ‘series’ called “Rebirth Of An Icon”.
Above, for your viewing pleasure, is the first instalment called “Project Kick-Off”.
In it, we see Ford’s Raj Nair joined by rally ace Ken Block as the pair discuss the birth of the new RS along with the all-wheel-drive platform.
Later, each takes his turn at the wheel of an early development model around a closed test circuit.
While Mr Block gives the RS a gentle workout, there’s no sideways action or tyre smoke for which the man has become famous. We’re guessing Ford is saving that for future episodes…
Revealed early this year, the new Focus RS is powered by a 2.3 litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 257kW and up to 470Nm.
In keeping the videos rolling, Ford released a clip last month which showed the new hot hatch can hit 100km/h from rest in just 4.7 seconds.
An Australian launch has already been locked in for the Ford Focus RS in Q1 of next year, with prices kicking off in the low-$50k region.
Future episodes of “Rebirth Of An Icon” will feature a detailed look at the car’s design, along with a crash safety demonstration.
