Rumours of an extra-hot hero model in the Ford Fiesta range have been circulating for years.
Of course, news in recent weeks that Ford will launch a further 12 performance models by 2020 now has the rumour mill in overdrive.
These new renderings, by independent artist ‘X-Tomi’, sees the current Fiesta ST upgraded with the same gaping maw and huge rear wing that adorns the larger Focus RS.
As a more compact companion to the new Focus RS, the Fiesta RS would enter above the already impressive Fiesta ST.
It’s believed however that, unlike the all-wheel-drive Focus RS, the special new Fiesta will continue to send its power to the front wheels only.
Power will reportedly rise to around 170kW, matching the output of Audi’s all-wheel-drive S1 hatch.
We can likely expect a 0-100km/h time that comfortably shades the 6.9 second run of the current ST, and perhaps closer to the S1’s claim of 5.9 seconds.
