Ford fans wishing for more from a light hatch than what the current Fiesta ST can deliver may be in for a treat, as the global carmaker is reportedly planning an even hotter version.
The ST (pictured above) delivers a 134kW/240Nm punch from its 1.6 litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, rising to 147kW/290Nm on ‘Overboost’.
But those numbers may be overshadowed by a new hot Fiesta from Ford, which could offer as much as 170kW - and wear the RS badge.
Speaking with British mag Autocar, Ford Performance manager Tyrone Johnson reportedly hinted at plans for a hotter Fiesta among the 12 models planned by the new go-fast arm of Ford before 2020.
While refusing to confirm that a Fiesta RS is on the way, Mr Johnson said the new model would sit above the current ST in terms of performance.
