Ford Falcon Ute Recalled For Axle Weld Weakness

Ford’s Falcon Utility has only recently wound up production in Australia, but the carmaker has seen fit to issue a recall for the last-ever model.

2016 Falcon FG Series II utes have been recalled this week due to a potential weakness with a rear axle weld. 

The weld could crack, which may lead to an oil leak. Further, the axel assembly could partially or fully detach from the wheel assembly.

Drivers may be alerted to this condition via a noise from the rear suspension. In any case, a failure may lead to a loss of braking performance, a loss of acceleration or reduced steering control.

A total of 3492 Falcon Utes are included in the recall, and Ford warns owners to drive with caution at moderate speeds until the recall is performed on their vehicles.
