Ford Everest: Terrain Management Tech Previewed In New Video

Ford is warming up the teaser campaign for its coming Everest SUV, handing down a new clip that previews its off-roading prowess.

The focus of this latest teaser is the Everest’s ‘on the fly’ Terrain Management System, working in tandem with the big 4x4 SUV’s Intelligent Four Wheel Drive tech and an active transfer case that offers high and low gear ratios.

The clip show’s the Everest traversing a number of off-road trails, switching from ‘Normal’ for regular road conditions to settings for snow, sand and rock.

The body-on-frame Everest promises a maximum wading depth of 800mm and 225mm of ground clearance, with the big SUV riding on coil springs and a Watt’s linkage at the rear axle.

Ford’s ‘Curve Control’ is also fitted, which helps drivers maintain control if they approach a corner with excessive enthusiasm, while roll stability control, 'Forward Alert with Collisions Mitigation' and Active Park Assist are all standard.

Ford has handed down a number of details of the new Everest in recent months, and while Australian specifications are still to be confirmed, you can read more about the global range via the links below.

The Everest will hit Australian showrooms this year, although exact has yet to be confirmed.

When it arrives, the Everest will partner with the compact EcoSport and small Kuga in Ford’s SUV line-up, along with the 4WD Ranger utility and Territory until the latter is replaced by a new model.
