Ford’s new Edge SUV, revealed in five-seat form earlier this year, has been upgraded to seven seats for the Chinese market this week.

As expected, the long anticipated seven-seat Edge retains much of the new five-seat model’s looks, with the obvious differences being a longer body and a more upright tail-end for greater head-space in the third row.

Those expecting the Edge to replace Australia’s Ford Territory might now have their seven-seat requirements fulfilled - but, for now, the carmaker is offering no firm word on either version of the Edge’s chances for a local berth.
