Battery-assisted versions of the Mustang, F-150 pickup, and Transit van are among 13 electric vehicles Ford will launch within the next five years.

They will be joined by an as-yet un-named electric compact SUV which Ford says will deliver a range between battery re-charges of 480km, plus a high-volume autonomous vehicle exclusively developed for commercial ride sharing.

And in news which should be of interest to law enforcement agencies in Australia - currently considering replacements for Commodore and Falcon - Ford is developing two new electric pursuit-rated Police vehicles.

The petrol-electric version of the Mustang will launch in North America in 2020 and Ford says we can expect V8-like power and even more torque than the current model’s 530Nm - something that will surely put a smile on the face of any Mustang fan.
