Land Rover isn’t being left in the jet-wash of the glamorous Europeans unveiling all-new cars at the Paris Motor Show and has released this image of its star attraction - the all-new Discovery.
First-up looks show the all-new seven-seat Land Rover Discovery has a logical connection to its excellent smaller brother the Discovery Sport.
But with Land Rover claiming the all-new Discovery has been “Created with absolute versatility, capability and technology like no other” and that it “Continues the Land Rover Above and Beyond journey”…well, we think the plan is for the newcomer to be even better off-road than the revered current generation.
A claim backed-up by Land Rover’s chief designer Gerry McGovern.
“New Discovery redefines the large SUV,” he revealed. “Land Rover’s design and engineering teams have revolutionized the Discovery DNA to create a highly desirable, extremely versatile and hugely capable premium SUV.”
The first official pic (top of page) confirms the all-new Land Rover Discovery does indeed follow the lead of the ‘Discovery Vision’ concept car (above) from a couple of years ago – which means no raised rear roof and a softer, more contemporary look.
European media suggest the all-new Land Rover Discovery will ride on the Range Rover Sport’s aluminium-intensive monocoque (a version of which is being developed for the all-new Range Rover due next year).
And expect the engine lineup to include JLR’s ‘Ingenium’ petrol and diesel units in varying capacities.
Sales will commence globally mid-2017.
While the all-new Land Rover Discovery will be the company’s star in Paris, many fans are more eagerly awaiting the British brand’s next all-new arrival – the replacement for the legendary Defender.
