The next instalment in the series we all love to hate and hate to love, The Fast and the Furious, will see Nissan's hero GT-R return to the spotlight.

While versions of the supercar-killer have appeared in earlier 'FnF' chapters, changes to the franchise's themes have seen a shift toward muscle cars and stealthy getaway rides.

That's about to change however, with an almost-bayside-blue GT-R confirmed for an appearance in the upcoming sixth instalment, due to hit cinemas in the coming months.

Developed by American house SP Engineering, the GT-R shown here is understood to be carrying parts from the likes of HKS, R's Tuning, Switzer and Cobb.

The track-inspired bodykit is the work of Japanese group BenSopra, and has already appeared on a GT-R at Tokyo Auto Salon and elsewhere.

The GT-R destined for the big screen won't be just for show, either, with the car's big twin-turbo V6 tuned to punch out nearly 510kW and 815Nm of torque.

Which of the film's stars will drive the car remains unknown, although Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner favoured the all-paw turbo Nissan in past chapters.
