Fiat has released a single teaser image for its upcoming pickup model, the Toro.
Set to debut in Latin America early next year, the Toro is the first utility since the Strada for the Italian carmaker. Whereas the first Fiat-Brazil Strada was based on the small Palio, Toro will be a new hat on the Mitsubishi Triton.
In a brief statement, Fiat described its new model as a “SUP” - Sport Utility Pickup - declaring it will offer the best of both the pickup and SUV segment.
“The model is for the market to debut a new segment - the Sport Utility Pickup (SUP). The Fiat Toro brings all the characteristics and strength of a truck and at the same time has all the comfort and drivability of an SUV,” Fiat said.
While sitting on the platform from the latest-generation Triton, the teaser points to a whisker of inspiration from the FCC4 concept on the styling front.
Besides Latin America, the Fiat Toro could also be offered for sale in European markets but an Australian debut is unlikely.
Little else is known about the Toro at this stage. Stay tuned to TMR for more.
