Fiat has officially pulled the covers from its new pickup model, called the Toro, which is destined to serve the carmaker in emerging markets throughout South America and possibly Europe.

However, besides a teaser image earlier in the month, the Italian carmaker has continued its 'cone of silence' on the new model, releasing just a single image of the pickup from a front-on view (above).

No interior shots or rear-end pics have been released in an official capacity, but details on the pickup’s mechanical features appear to have leaked through the US press.

At least three Toro variants will be available, called the Urban, Country and Adrenaline, in both 2WD and 4WD matched with a six- or nine-speed automatic transmission. Six-speed manual models are also available.

A 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine is the powerplant of choice for the majority of the Toro range, while a 1.8 litre petrol engine will serve entry-level models.
