Fiat Australia has announced the arrival of two special addition models to its range: the Tricolore 500 and Freemont.
Indentifiable by their red, white and green pinstripes and chrome mirror casings, the Tricolore 500 and Tricolore Freemont area homage to the Fiat brand's Italian heritage - despite the Dodge-based Freemont being as Italian as apple pie and baseball.
The Tricolore editions also feature unique floor mats with red white and green striping, as well as unique key fobs and keyrings.
Inside, the specification level of the Tricolore 500 is identical to that of the Fiat 500 Lounge, with a glass sunroof, climate control, cruise control, 15-inch alloys and a leather-wrapped steering wheel being standard equipment.
Fiat's 0.9 litre TwinAir engine powers the Tricolore 500, and the Dualogic automated manual is the sole transmission offered.
The Tricolore Freemont is available with either 2.4 litre petrol or 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine, and its spec sheet matches the mid-grade Freemont Urban.
Both are on sale now, with the Tricolore 500 priced at $20,300 and the Tricolore Freemont costing $28,300 for the petrol and $32,600 for the diesel.
According to Fiat, the Tricolore special editions offer around $1500 extra value over the model grades they are based on, despite costing the same.
