Priced from $27,000 drive-away, the Freemont arrives with automatic petrol and manual diesel options.
Offered in three trim grades - Base, Urban and Lounge - all Freemont models are available with a front-wheel-drive configuration only.
A five-seat cabin layout is standard, although a seven-seat option is available, adding $1500 to the Freemont's list price.
Depending on trim grade, the Freemont is available with either a 2.4 litre petrol engine or a 2.0 litre diesel. Both engines are compliant with Euro 5 emissions requirements.
The familiar 2.4 litre engine, available in Base, Urban and Lounge trim, produces 125kW at 6000rpm and 220Nm of torque at 4500rpm. It is available with the six-speed automatic only.
Fuel consumption for the 2.4 engine is listed at 9.8 l/100km.
Available exclusively with the mid-level Urban trim and six-speed manual transmission, the 2.0 litre diesel offers 125kW at 4000rpm and 350Nm between 1750 and 2500rpm.
Fuel consumption for the 2.0 litre diesel is listed at 6.3 l/100km.
Suspension is by MacPherson struts up front, and a multilink arrangement is fitted at the rear. Braking is managed by 302mm ventilated discs at the front and 305mm solid discs at the rear.
