Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne is set to present the company’s future model plans in the coming hours, but a number of key details have surfaced overnight.
According to website USA Today, the briefing will include news of a performance-only focus for Dodge, and a number of new models for the Chrysler brand.
Ferrari will be another feature of the presentation, the report adds, with Marchionne expected to announce plans for new models in new segments.
It is believed, however, that the superbrand will not follow its superivals into four-door and SUV territory.
Instead, Luxury and supercar stablemate Maserati is expected to confirm new details of its coming SUV, and the recent Alfieri concept is also believed to be bound for production.
It has also been reported in recent months that Alfa Romeo will announce new models planned for 2015 and beyond, and the brand is expected to become a standalone operation within the Fiat family.
The Fiat brand will also get something of a makeover, with a focus on small and creatively styled models inspired by the growing ‘500’ range.
Plans for new Jeep models are also expected to be announced, suggesting we could at last see new details of a next-generation Wrangler range.
This latest plan will be the second announced since Fiat took over Chrysler in 2009. Much has changed in the five years since, and many of the goals outlined then have not been fulfilled.
Europe's extended recession saw Fiat focus its energies on conserving funds and keeping Chrysler from collapsing.
The company has consolidated however, with Fiat finalising its complete takeover of the Chrysler company and relaunching as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
The carmaker can now focus on moving forward, developing new platforms and introducing new models.
Watch for more details of to come tomorrow.
