These revealing photos, taken during a marketing shoot, are in fact the second instance of the new model appearing without camouflage.
In 2012, an undisguised 500X was shown on stage at an Italian press event, although it now appears that car may have been an early styling mockup.
Although largely identical, these new photos reveal large satin-framed headlights, along with a more prominent flaring to the front wheel arch.
A new front bumper design can also be seen, although this - along with the larger wheels - may be a look unique to a top-shelf trim grade.
Official details on the new model remain a secret for now, but it is known that the 500X will share its platform and drivetrains with the light Jeep Renegade.
We can likely expect the the same 1.4, 1.6 and 2.4 litre petrol engines that drive the Jeep, along with a 2.0 litre diesel option.
Transmissions should include a six-speed manual and ZF’s nine-speed auto (also featured in the Dodge Dart and Fiat Viaggio sedans).
Although the Renegade’s base front-wheel-drive option is accompanied by two 4x4 packages, the 500X’s range is likely to focus on the front wheels.
Watch for more details to come at October’s Paris Motor Show.
