With Ferrari's new Enzo-replacing F70 hypercar nearing its production debut, speculation is building as to where the Prancing Horse will take the look of its new hero.

Australian designer David Williams has offered his own take on the new car, producing a computer-generated rendering that draws cues both from the Enzo, and from Ferrari's newer models.

Featuring scalpel-sharp lines, massive intakes and a fighter-jet canopy, Williams' F70 pays tribute to the extreme look of Ferrari's top-end performers.

The new car has been spied testing in Europe over the past year, but with hard plastic camouflage covering most of its surfaces, its final styling is anybody's guess. Time will tell if David Williams' visualisation has managed to nail its lines.

For now, Ferrari has confirmed that the F70 will get an unveiling later this year.

"At the end of the year, we'll also be unveiling the new Enzo; a limited series model and our first-ever hybrid car", Chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced recently while discussing Ferrari’s favourable first-quarter results.

A private unveiling to potential customers was always on the cards, but this announcement suggests that the public’s first peek at the so-called F70 has been brought forward.

Ferrari's design boss is understood to have penned a "three-curve profile", sweeping up over the front guards, across the roofline and down the rear guards.

As with the original Enzo, aerodynamics will have played a major role in the look of the new model.

TMR reported recently that development of the as yet un-named model was well underway, and Ferrari has already demonstrated the model’s revolutionary HY-KERS hybrid drivetrain.

Ferrari’s official demonstration-video champions the similarity of the system to the KERS unit found in Ferrari's F1 cars, which combined with the petrol V12 engine is expected to produce a Veryron-nudging 687kW.

This is all achievable while delivering 40 percent less tailpipe emissions, Ferrari says.

Porsche’s own 918 hybrid flagship supercar is also expected just months later, which will be a clash of the titans to watch for.
