Following an initial recall of 58 vehicles with driver’s-side airbag issues, Ferrari has now initiated a separate recall for passenger-side airbag modules in four of its vehicles.

The recall affects 359 vehicles from the California, 458 Italia, 458 Spider, and FF ranges, built between 2009 and 2011.

According to the official recall notice, the passenger front airbag inflator is an “outsourced component” and joins the list of vehicles involved in the Takata airbag recall, the largest global recall ever.

In the event of a collision that required the airbags to be deployed the non-conforming passenger airbag inflator may result in the failure of the inflation device, and incorrect deployment of the airbag.

That could result in an increased risk of injury. Owners of those vehicles affected are asked to contact their local Ferrari dealership to arrange replacement of the passenger side airbag.
