The reports and rumours for Ferrari's upcoming Enzo replacement are flying thick and fast - although a late 2012 private preview is promised, and a V12 heart confirmed.

This week, US magazine Motor Trend reports that the so-called F70 will partner its V12 engine with a version of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System featured in the 599 HY-KERS concept.

The magazine claims that the V12 will be a more powerful version of the 6.3 litre mill that powers the new F12 and the all-wheel-drive FF, producing 600kW in F70 form.

The KERS system will reportedly add an 85 kilowatt electric motor to the mix.

For its part, Ferrari has confirmed only that a mid-mounted V12 engine will star, but neither official figures - nor the presence of a power-boosting KERS system - have not been announced.

The brand has confirmed however that development of a production KERS system is underway, suggesting that a debut in Ferrari's new hero car could be on the cards.

Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa confirmed last year that the Enzo's successor will feature a carbon-fibre chassis and a mid-mounted V12 engine.

Whether the new hero will remain a limited-edition offering is unclear. Only 399 Enzo supercars were built, and only 349 F50s were produced.
