Despite being withdrawn from sale in Australia earlier this year, Honda’s sporty hybrid three-door, the CR-Z is preparing for an update overseas.

A new-generation CR-Z with a more dedicated sporting focus is expected to arrive in 2017, but before it does this latest update will keep the current model fresh.

These leaked brochure images show a new set of bumpers front and rear, with the front end wearing a reshaped grille, larger intakes either side, and a 'floating' lower lip.

Headlight internals have been given a new look too, with the possibility of switching to all LED lighting.

At the rear, the tail-lights appear the same, but there's a new rear bumper below that compliments the more-curved forms at the front.

Alloy wheels also come in for a upgrade, with a new design in a two-tone finish.

On the inside, the centre console has been tidied with an electric park brake, allowing the fitment of a larger centre armrest.

Interior finishes will also get a light going-over, but infotainment, dashboard and instrument cluster appear to soldier on unchanged.

No mechanical changes are expected, but it is possible Honda may make small changes to power outputs and fuel consumption.

Don’t expect to see the update reach Australia however, with the CR-Z’s lacklustre sales here ruling out a re-introduction before the all-new model arrives in 2017.
