Mercedes-Benz' updated 2013 E-Class has been spied on the road again, wearing less camouflage and offering the most revealing look yet at the new face.

While earlier reports described a massive styling overhaul, spy photos in the past year have confirmed that design changes will be limited largely to a front-end makeover.

Spied in wagon and coupe form, these new prototypes confirm again that Merc's large car will retain most of its existing sheet metal in 2013, with the bulk of its design tweaks appearing up front.

Although camouflaged, it is clear from these images that the 2013 E-Class will get brand-new headlights, along with a new grille and bumper.

Following in the footsteps of the new CLS and updated C-Class, the headlights of the 'new' E will take on a more wave-like appearance, while moving away from the familiar two-piece design.

The profile and rear-end of the test cars are largely unchanged, with only the tail-lights and bumpers getting any noticeable camouflage - suggesting updates to the light housing's internal design.
