Citroen’s now-standalone premium brand, DS, appears set for an influx of new models as the carmaker continues its detachment from the parent company.
Not content to continue with its current models alone, the French carmaker is reportedly planning to add a new luxury model to the range along with a coupe and an SUV by 2020.
Furthermore, a sub-brand called DS Performance will be established which promises to turn up the heat on some of DS’s more sporting models.
The coupe is an unknown quantity at this stage, but it’s understood the luxury car would be aimed at the Chinese market and may never venture to other countries.
Details on some aspects of the new Performance arm are also limited, but DS’s Eric Apode said comfort and refinement would continue to be a focus for DS in its new Performance models.
“The target is to make a much broader range in the near future,” Mr Apode said, speaking with Auto Express.
“In the future, we will see performance increase but still with the comfort of a DS car. Part of DS’s brand identity is ease of use and everyday comfort, so these cars won’t be stripped-out. They are not track cars”.
New badging will feature on the Performance models, along with larger wheels, sports seats, interior trim highlights and a body kit.
