The first product of the new division is DS’ entry into Formula E, the DSV-01, in conjunction with Virgin Racing.
DS Performance is responsible for the design of the DSV-01’s electric motor and gearbox, rear suspension, and cooling system.
2015 drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Sam Bird will again appear behind the wheel. Last season Bird finished fifth in the driver standings, with Virgin Racing also ending the season in fifth place.
DS Virgin racing also showcased their new livery, continuing the Virgin Racing silver and red theme while adding DS Automobiles black rear fairings, and continuing last season’s purple battery cover.
The cars will be named after Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson's Daughter Holly, and daughter in law, Isabella 'Bellie' Calthorpe, as per last season.
"I cannot not wait to get on track in Beijing for the first race of the season and show off the new design to all of those people onsite and watching on TV" Sam Bird said, speaking about the DSV-01
DS Performance is yet to reveal any other motorsport plans beyond Formula E, however an extension into rallying is a possibility.
While the brand has no confirmed plans yet, future high performance road cars like Citroen’s DS 3 Racing, are also likely to appear with the new DS Performance tag.
