Dodge Delivers Witty 90-second Guide To New Car Development: Video

The future of the Dodge brand in Australia may be up in the air, but the unveiling of its all-new Dart sedan earlier this year could mark a revival on the international stage.

Sharing its platform with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the sporty new Dart will have Fiat's 119kW 1.4 litre turbocharged MultiAir engine under the bonnet - and a 137kW R/T model is on the way.

This week, Dodge has released a clever new advertisement that offers a look at how a future fan-favourite is made - or, at least, how it should happen.

"Adding a dose of fun, creative licence and Dodge brand humor, (the commercial) captures the meticulous process of starting with a simple idea and developing it into a revolutionary new car," Chrysler Group's international marketing boss Olivier Francois said of the new ad.

Will we see the Dart in Australia? That will depend on a few things; key among them is the question of whether the Dodge brand will live on here, and the availability of a right-hand-drive model.

Both factors are still to be confirmed, although Fiat Chrysler Group Australia has teamed up with Chrysler's UK arm to lobby for a common specification. This could boost the chances of a right-hook model entering production.
