Land Rover’s midsized Discovery Sport has come in for its first major update already, with the addition of a new 2.0 litre ‘Ingenium’ diesel engine.
This update is no surprise, however, with Land Rover confirming at the new model’s unveiling in September that an advanced new diesel would join the range in 2015.
The new 2.0 litre turbodiesel, which also stars in the upcoming Jaguar XE sedan, will replace the 2.2 litre unit currently on offer with the Discovery Sport.
As with the 2.2 mill, the new 2.0 litre diesel will be offered in two states of tune, depending on its position in the line-up.
In its entry form, the new engine will offer 110kW, while the top tune will deliver 132kW. Torque figures have not been made official, but the same engine offers 380Nm and 430Nm, respectively, in the XE.
By comparison, the 2.2 diesel available for order in Australia right now can be had in 110kW/400Nm and 140kW/420Nm form.
