The born-again Detroit Electric has teased its upcoming SP:01 EV sports car in a new video, showing a change in direction from the original styling.

First revealed at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, the SP:01 was a two-seater, two-door roadster sharing similar lines to the Lotus Elise upon which it’s based.

While the shadowy image in the teaser video (top of page) seems to reveal that front styling has changed little in 18 months, the rear now shows more of a coupe-style fastback look with a gradually sloping roof line.

Production is due to begin soon, but while earlier reports suggested the SP:01 would be built in The Netherlands the latest plan is for production to take place in the UK.

Detroit Electric has also modified its logo in preparation for its comeback model, accompanied by the slogan “Pure Electric Performance”.
