Bentley describes itself as “the most sought after luxury car brand in the world”, and there’s little doubt that its new Continental Supersports will fit that bill.
The British brand claims that the new super coupe and convertible is the fastest four-seater in the world.
The numbers look like this: 522kW and a sizable 1017Nm from a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 petrol engine capable of propelling the 4806mm long, 2280kg monster to 100km/h from rest in just 3.5 seconds.
The convertible with its heavier 2455kg kerb weight takes 3.9 seconds to reach the same speed, and its top speed is 6km/h slower than the coupe at 330km/h.
To make use of all that power and torque, the Supersports naturally features full-time all-wheel-drive with a 60:40 bias towards the rear, along with a torque-vectoring system. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission available.
Buyers probably won’t mind that the official fuel figure for the coupe is 15.7L/100km, rising to 15.9L/100km in the convertible.
As the fastest four-seater in the world, the Continental Supersports also takes the crown as Bentley’s most-powerful and fastest offering.
Bentley has equipped the Supersport with the world’s largest carbon ceramic brake rotors, nestled behind 21-inch alloy wheels. The pair offers a 20kg weight saving, and another 5kg can be shaved from the total if customers are willing to pay for the optional titanium exhaust.
Also on the options list is a rear wing which is combined with a front spoiler as a package.
Outside, the new Supersport wears unique styling highlights including gloss black tailpipes, dark highlights for the exterior lighting, black highlights for the door handles and window trims, front and rear bumpers with carbon-fibre components along with carbon-fibre bonnet vents and side sills.
Inside, convertible customers are treated to neck warmers, while other features include a new diamond-quilted Alcantara design for the seats and door side panels, chequered Supersports carbon-fibre fascia panels and Supersports emblem stitching along with a unique Supersports steering wheel and gear lever.

For customers who may be dissatisfied with the 2017 Continental Supersports in its ‘standard’ form, Bentley reminds them that the bespoke coachbuilding service is available through Mulliner.
