A man named Matthew Riese - a.k.a. David Lorean - had a dream; to build a Delorean Hovercraft.

Combining the awesomeness of the ‘real’ star of Back To The Future with that of a hovercraft just seemed too good to be true. And as it turns out, it was…

But Riese/Lorean didn’t give up, turning to the increasingly-popular crowd funding method as far back as 2010 to raise the US$5500 he required to have another crack.

Crowd funding often poses excellent ideas, but many never make the transformation from paper to reality as only a handful or people are prepared to donate their cash.

This wasn’t the case with Riese’s Delorean Hovercraft, which raised the necessary funds plus some additional pocket change and now it is, in fact, a reality.

Delorean fans may cringe at the idea that one of their beloved has been transformed to hover-car status, but Riese assures us the body is a styrofoam replica that can float.
