Dartz has unveiled its latest insane creation, which started out in life as a Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and became the Prombron Black Shark.

At least the Latvian carmaker claims to have based its new model on the GL-Class, but its rather rugged appearance and the availability of V8 or V12 engines suggests it may be the G-Class instead.

Opt for the Mercedes-AMG sourced V12 in its most powerful state of tune, and Dartz will wind the power dial all the way up to 1119kW.

So it’s powerful, but the 1000-plus kilowatt engine output ranks somewhere in the middle on a list of the Black Shark’s most impressive features.

The Black Shark is unlikely to be mistaken for any other car while sitting at the traffic lights, but any unwanted attention that the unique styling attracts can be ‘dealt with’ in an unusual way.

Dartz boss Leonard Yankelovich says the latest model offers ‘custom safety’ retracting door handles capable of ‘shocking’ Paparazzi photographers who get too close, while electro-chromatic privacy windows protect occupants from photographers with long lenses.
