Daihatsu Unveils New UFC People-moving Concept In Indonesia

Daihatsu has revealed a people-moving concept at this week's Indonesia Motor Show, previewing what could be a new production model for the Japanese brand.

Dubbed UFC (that's Ultra Functional Compact, not Ultimate Fighting Championship - Ed), the new high-riding wagon offers three rows and six configurable seats.

The UFC gets sliding rear doors on both sides and, like Ford's new B-Max MPV and Tata's Megapixel concept, the B-pillar has been integrated into the door frames, allowing greater access to the cabin.

A production future for the UFC is still to be confirmed, but with the Toyota-owned Daihatsu now gone from Australia, this is not one you should look forward to seeing in local showrooms.

Daihatsu has also used the event to show off its earlier D-R and D-X roadsters, the latter offering a unique Transformer-like ability to morph into a number of different styles and functions.

Thanks to its resin body design, the D-X's shell-like top section can be switched out for a selection of other styles, including a panel van or an off-roading recreational vehicle.
