Citroen has released a pair of new teasers for its upcoming SUV concept, now known to be called 'Wild Rubis'.

Bound for this month's Shanghai Auto Show, the concept will preview a new SUV addition to Citroen's upmarket DS range, joining the DS3, DS4 and DS5

These first teasers include a cropped image of the concept's LED-rich headlights, along with a short video that offers glimpses of the new model's design.

(Interestingly, the Citroen concept's headlights look remarkably similar to those of the Honda Urban SUV concept.)

Little else is known about the concept at this stage, although it is expected that the Wild Rubis will be specified and priced in-line with established prestige rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

Reports suggest the SUV will make its production debut first in China from early 2014, hitting Europe and global markets later in the year.

An overall length of around 4.7 metres is expected - around the length of the Audi A5 - and powertrains should include both petrol and diesel options.

As an SUV, an all-wheel-drive variant is expected, but with power supplied by Peugeot Citroen's Hybrid4 147kW diesel-electric system.

The company's familiar 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engine will reportedly also feature, offering around 180kW for the SUV.

Watch for more details to come in the lead-up to the Shanghai Auto Show.
