Citroen is finalising two new models for its upmarket DS brand, according to reports out of this month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Speaking with enthusiast site Left Lane, PR boss Arnaud de Lamothe reportedly confirmed a pair of small new SUV and sedan models, appealing to the strongest-selling end of the premium market.

The sedan model would likely take on Audi's A3 four-door and the Mercedes-Benz CLA, both of which are new entries for the German brands.

Both models would likely ride on the same small-car platform that underpins the Peugeot 301 and the Citroen C-Elysée - among others - introducing mechanical enhancements to position the DS cars above their regular stablemates.

On the styling front, expect the new DS sedan and SUV models to draw inspiration from the brand's most recent concept: the big Wild Rubis (shown above).

Importantly, the Wild Rubis is the first offering from Citroen to wear the DS logo on its own, tossing the familiar chevron badge aside.

Expect the new models to debut first in China, where the brand is already marketed as DS, separate from the Citroen brand.

The report adds that the SUV and sedan will debut together at one of the major Chinese shows in 2014.
