Citroen is gearing its Picasso hatch and people-mover models up for a road trip this week, introducing the Safari Pack in Australia at no extra cost.

Billed as a tribute to the classic DS wagon that went by the Familiale, Wagon and Safari monikers in various markets, the new pack brings $1500 worth of extras for the weekend away.

In both five-seat C4 Picasso and seven-seat C4 Grand Picasso form, the Safari pack adds roof rails and a 330 litre storage pod, along with two tablet holders for the second row and a boot liner in the rear.

The storage pod offers access from both sides, while the roof rails can be securely locked to the Picasso’s roof.

Features already standard with both models include a 12-inch information display and a 7-inch touch-screen control display, along with satellite navigation, self-parking park assist and a 360-degree bird’s eye view camera display.

Also standard with both Picasso models is dual-zone climate control with rear vents, panoramic ‘Celio’ glass roof, keyless entry and start, automatic wipers and headlights, LED daytime lamps and fog lamps with cornering function.

Both Picasso models carry a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, and all Citroen models are covered by a six-year unlimited kilometre warranty with capped price servicing and roadside assist.

C4 Grand Picasso - The Basics

The C4 Grand Picasso is powered by a 110kW/370Nm 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine, matched to a six-speed auto. Fuel consumption is listed at 4.5 l/100km.

Storage space, with five of the seven seats in place, is listed at 645 litres, and Citroen quotes an 1170mm space between the rear wheel arches.

With the front seat folded flat, it also makes a handy cargo carrier able to accept a load up to a sizeable 2.75m in length.

C4 Picasso - The Basics

The C4 Picasso is powered by a 121kW/240Nm 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine, paired with a six-speed auto. Fuel use is rated at 5.6 l/100km.

With the seats in place, the Picasso offers 537 litres of rear storage, rising to 1851 litres with all seats folded flat.

There is also additional underfloor storage space in the boot and a space-saver spare.
