Citroen has unveiled its new DS3 Cabrio Racing concept, destined to tackle the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Cabrio Racing Concept is a matte black (“Moondark”) version of the existing DS3 Racing with a roll back open roof, much like the regular DS3 Cabrio.

Citroen’s Racing-tuned 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine fitted to the regular DS3 Racing is also fitted to the Cabrio Racing concept. The unit develops 150kW.

The matt black paintwork is offset by gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels, housing the upgraded brakes of the DS3 Racing within along with “Black Chrome” inserts on the handles, boot trim and door mirrors.

DS identification is worn on both the door mirrors and the black canvas roof.

Added rigidity measures mean the DS3 Cabrio Racing concept weighs 25kg more than the regular DS3 Racing hatch.

The DS theme is continued with the interior, which includes bucket seats with a DS “watchstrap design” in three types of fabric; Napa full-grain leather, DS-embossed leather and Alcantara.

For those sick of child seats that don’t match their interiors, Citroen have included a child seat with the Cabrio Racing displaying the same watchstrap design as the rest of the interior seating.

Along with its appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing concept will also be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
