Citroen's quirky Cactus concept has surfaced online today, appearing in the Russian press ahead of its Frankfurt debut next week.
The French carmaker has surprised fans with a crossover approach to its latest concept, rather than the compact hatch many had been expecting.
There is little about the new Catcus concept to keep it from production, although we would likely see larger headlights and a more conventional door design (along with some more windows) before a showroom debut is confirmed.
The concept's cabin appears largely ready for production, with a rugged design dominated by an industrial style across the dash and a pair of large display screens.
The Cactus is believed to represent the first step towards a more playful and budget-focused outlook for the Citroen brand, leaving Peugeot and the DS offshoot to handle more upmarket demands.
Citroen has yet to release technical details for the Catcus, although an image presented on the dash display suggests an electric or hybrid powertrain will provide motivation.
Watch for more details to surface in the coming days.
