Australia’s Performax International has issued recalls this week for two of its US-sourced pickups.

The recall surrounds the vehicle’s sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), which may be subject to a software defect.

A faulty SDM may not trigger the airbags or seatbelt pre-tensioners during a collision when required. This could present an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

The affected models are the 2014-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, the 2014–2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and the 2014–2017 GMC Sierra 2500 - sold in Australia between May 2015 and October last year.

More than 140 vehicles are on the recall list for Australia.

The recall process will involve a software update, and a new SDM for vehicles with data of previous safety system deployments.

Performax will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local authorised Performax dealer.
