GM's new Malibu midsizer, due for its Australian debut this month, has picked up a number of key updates for the US market.
Confirmed late last year, the revisions to the US Malibu include a new Impala-inspired face, again showcasing a new take on Chevrolet's familiar dual-port grille design.
Other updates include the addition of stop-start technology in the Malibu's 2.5 litre Ecotec four-cylinder petrol engine, while the 2.0 litre turbocharged four gets a 14 percent torque boost.
The list of mechanical updates for the US-market 2014 Malibu also include recalibrated dampers and rebound springs, along with the rack-and-pinion power steering system and brakes package.
There's also Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert - both features now offered with the updated Holden VF Commodore.
Lastly, GM has moved to appease demand for greater rear legroom, shaving around 15mm from the front seatbacks and adjusting the rear seats to add a total of 32mm in additional knee room.
