A great many of Cadillac's problems, like those of rival Infiniti, can be attributed to a lack of product in key areas.

The American luxury icon is not wanting for large sedans or SUVs, but it's lacking in options at the other end of the size scale. If you want a Cadillac that's easier to live with on a day-to-day basis, you're fresh out of luck.

New boss Johan de Nysschen has publicly stated that a small sedan and compact SUV are high on the wishlist, but neither exist in Cadillac's product portfolio at this time. That said, the compact SUV will likely arrive in 2017, followed by the sedan.

The sedan, interestingly enough, is expected to be RWD. That will make it unique in its segment, considering the Audi A3, next-gen BMW 1 Series sedan and Benz's CLA are all front-wheel drive.
