According to British mag Autocar, the new model will be known as the C 450 AMG Sport.
As with its rivals, the C 450 AMG Sport would get the benefit of input from the company’s performance arm, offering buyers a more affordable - but still properly potent - alternative to the full-bottle C 63 AMG.
The report claims the new model will be powered by Merc’s twin-turbo M276 3.0 litre V6 engine, with output boosted from 248 to a more impressive 273kW.
And, while the C 63 is expected to be offered in rear-wheel-drive only, the C 450 AMG Sport will reportedly be offered in both rear- and 4Matic all-wheel-drive forms.
If the report proves accurate, expect the C 450 to launch next year, when it will take on the 335i M Sport, the Audi S4 and the Lexus IS F Sport (and likely a new performer in the Infiniti Q50 range).
