Buick Encore CUV Teased Further

GM's upcoming Buick Encore compact SUV is drawing nearer to its Detroit Motor Show debut next month, and a pair of new teaser images offers a new look at what we can expect to see.

Utilising a version of the platform that underpins the new Holden Barina, the Encore will share its crossover architecture with a new compact SUV in Opel's European line-up.

While the Buick badge means we likely won't see the Encore on our roads, Opel's upcoming Australian launch could see the European version make a local debut in the future.

A Holden version of the little crossover should not be ruled out however, with the huge gap beneath the Captiva 5 SUV leaving the Lion without a competitor for the likes of the Nissan Dualis, the Hyundai ix35 and the Mitsubishi ASX.

A high-riding Barina could be just the ticket for Holden to make its mark in the strong-selling Compact SUV segment.
