It might look like an iPhone on wheels (the iScoot?), but Boxx Corp's new scooter promises to be the most compact scooter money can buy.

Don't bother wondering where the engine fits in, because the Boxx is the latest in a growing range of electric scooters. Power is sent to both wheels from a small motor, and the whole thing measures just one metre long and weighs in at just 55kg.

That's little more than a bag of cement, and less than half the weight of most scooters - and you'll fit this one in the boot of your Volkswagen Polo.

You won't be pulling any cross-country jaunts however, with its riding range limited to about 30 kilometres, although there's an optional battery upgrade that will deliver twice the range.

Top speed is just 60km/h though, so stay off the freeways (or potter along in the left lane).

The Boxx starts at US$3995, but getting one into Australia and registered for local roads will probably prove more of a headache than it's worth.
