BMW M7 On The Way?

BMW’s M division may at last be preparing a halo offering in the big 7 Series range, a new report out of Germany suggests.

Rumours of a performance-tuned M7 have been doing the rounds for years, but BMW M has so far resisted the temptation.

In 2009, former BMW M boss (now MINI chief) Kay Segler told industry paper Automotive News that the figures for an M7 don’t stack up.

"We’ve looked at that [the M7] and decided not to do it," Segler told the paper.

"The 760 with awd is a very strong offer. The M sales would be too small for our total investment."
