BMW’s M3 Coupe replacement has again seen light of day, with more spy photos emerging from Europe this week.
The camouflaged coupe - expected to be known as the M4 - has been spotted cutting some development laps on the hallowed Nurburgring.
The regular 4 Series Coupe has been spied without camouflage in recent months, giving more than few clues as to what to expect when the wraps come off the M4.
Of course, the cars won't be identical: the M4 will certainly sit on a wider track under fattened guards, while unique bumpers and aero components will feature at both ends.
The forthcoming debut of the M4 won't spell the end of the M3 however, with a top-shelf M-tuned twin to the Coupe expected to top the 3 Series Sedan line-up.
The M3/M4 twins will reportedly revert back to a straight six cylinder engine, this time with turbocharging, and a high-performance vesion of the current N55 engine is expected.
The 335i turbo power plant produces 225 KW of power, while the M3’s current V8 engine produces 309 KW. Power in the new M is expected to stray not far beyond this figure, although a dollop of extra torque is likely.
Debuting without a significant power boost won't hold the M4 back however, with advanced lightweight materials, new electronically controlled differential, wider track and a torque vectoring system all expected to enhance performance significantly.
